Rituals – Use mobility!
Turning time spent on the road into productive work time takes some concentration. However, if you are able to largely block out disturbing factors in your immediate environment (earplugs or headphones playing baroque music are always an alternative), there is nothing standing in the way of successful mobile working.
If one has the choice, one naturally chooses the journey by train or the flight. Here you can work in cramped conditions, but at least you can work “at your desk”. The use of a laptop is essential for this. Important: The work tasks you do here should not exceed a certain level of complexity. Better to take on routine work along the way or – which can definitely work in a new, changed environment – be creative!
But even on car journeys it is possible to do quite a bit of (passive) work. Important and, above all, probably longer telephone calls should be scheduled for periods when you are travelling by car. Please note: The quality of the audio system in the car should not scare away customers or employees. In addition to telephone calls, car journeys are also a good opportunity to listen to audio logs or to record the content of audio books (business books or even language learning).
Insider tip: If you have to produce a lot of content, you can also record information onto your smartphone during your journeys. This shows that talking to yourself can also be productive!
