Capital Meets Innovation: When Hiking Opens Up New Paths

3 Min.

Sometimes the best ideas don’t come in the conference room, but on the go. That was exactly the idea behind a group hiking day organized by Hilmar Platz, Jozo Legatar and Matthias Brinkmann in Kipfenberg. The three have long been united by a common goal: How can investors and exciting innovations be better connected? Together, they have more than 70 years of experience, a well-established network of investors, and strong connections to companies, projects, and people with innovative ideas. This expertise will be pooled even more effectively in the future.

Out of the conference room, into your hiking boots

To discuss the next steps, they deliberately chose not to meet at the conference table this time. Instead, the three of them set out from Kipfenberg at 9 a.m.—with no set route and no rigid agenda. They simply started walking, talked to each other, and saw where the path would take them.

A nice parallel to business life quickly became apparent: Not every single step has to be set in stone from the very beginning. Sometimes the right path only becomes clear as you go along. And when you look at the map, you suddenly realize where you’ve actually ended up and how far you’ve already come. The hike provided the perfect setting for exactly that. In addition to business ideas and concrete plans for the future, there was plenty of room for personal conversations. After all, good collaboration isn’t built solely on skills and contacts, but above all on trust.

Capital meets innovation

These discussions are now set to lead to something more. Under the motto “Capital Meets Innovation,” Hilmar, Jozo, and Matthias aim to bring their diverse expertise and networks together. On one side are investors looking for interesting innovations, companies, and investment opportunities. On the other hand, there are innovative ideas and companies that need capital, contacts, or experienced partners to take their next steps.

The goal is to create a stronger connection right between these two worlds.

After about nine hours, we headed back home—with tired legs, lots of conversations, and, above all, new plans in tow. Maybe this will even turn into a format of its own: Innovation Hiking—simply setting out together, exchanging ideas, and discovering new paths. If you’d like to join us on a hike or discuss capital, innovations, and potential collaborations, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Sponsors wanted:
Become a COiDEALIST with us!

The unconditional will to cooperate and a thick portion of idealism: This already describes the COiDEALISTEN e. V. in its name. Founding and working approach of the association: Too many valuable ideas remain unused in the potential they can develop for a variety of reasons. The COiDEALISTS – their founders Thorsten Luehrs, Philipp Luehrs and Matthias Brinkmann and the steadily growing number of members – have made it their task to bring together idea and financial backers, implementers and supporters within a non-profit association and to let joint projects emerge from the visions they want to share and advance together.

Since its founding in February 2022, our association has received a great influx – from idea and capital providers alike. Just how exciting our concept is can be seen from the fact that we were offered platforms at many locations and events (e.g., on the occasion of the DTIM Conference 2022) where we could present ourselves or give talks on specific topics.

What we need as we continue to grow are sponsors and funders who can help us in a variety of ways, from founding and forming us to building a viable network and carrying out our many projects.

Join us – we look forward to it!

Sharing ideas – with the co-idealists!

2 Min.

Idea generators, doers, funders: these are the three groups of people that are absolutely needed to implement true innovations – from the original idea to the final sales campaign. In order to create a common platform where members of these groups can meet regularly, exchange ideas and motivate each other, we founded the association Co-Idealisten e. V. in April 2022 together with 15 other members from the early days.

The basic idea behind founding an association: Too many genuinely innovative, promising ideas get stuck in the bud on the way to implementation. There are many reasons for this: despite good prospects of success, they may not fit in with a company’s strategy or product portfolio, or there may be a lack of comrades-in-arms who could pave the way for the idea; in most cases, there is simply a lack of money.

In the future, the Co-Idealists want to build a ramp on which sustainable ideas can be developed into real innovations. The highlight of the association’s activities should be three annual calls for proposals, in which particularly attractive project ideas can be presented. One main prize is to be awarded via the community’s selection, a second by the sponsors, and a further call for entries is then to determine its winner at random. Teamwork, idea generation, relaxed exchange rounds, highly interesting and burning issues shape everyday life here and we are all excited to see what great projects will develop here.

Capital meets innovation – Welcome to the ring

Surely everybody has at least once heard of the show “Höhle der Löwen”, the pondon of the American show “Shark Tank”, where startup entrepreneurs and investors inspire each other and want to profit from each other. Seems like we have it here, the evolved idea! Instead of publicly flogging founders or buying into promising ideas for as little money as possible, we want to bring funding and innovation together in a lively, yet serious and ultimately more promising way.
