Friedrich Alexander University, which was established in Erlangen in 1743, is the second largest university among Bavaria’s higher education institutions. Among its faculties are the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Technology, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Theology.
